Breast cancer in young adults is different
- 13,000 young adults receive a breast cancer diagnosis each year.
- 250,000 people who were diagnosed before age 40 are living in the U.S. today.
- They're often the youngest person in their oncologist's office and feel isolated among their peers.
- They face early menopause, infertility, and negative impacts tot heir sexual health and body image.
- Some are parenting young children while undergoing difficult treatments.
- Their experience is different. Their support needs to be, too.
Young Survival Coalition (YSC)
- Supports 14,000 young survivors and their caregiver support networks every year.
- Coordinates 176 in-person and virtual networking groups to connect survivors to their peers.
- Provides live and on-demand education with medical experts about the issues unique to young survivors.
- Hosts the largest conference just for young adults affected by breast cancer and provides financial assistance to expand equitable access.
- Is the largest nonprofit dedicated exclusively to young adults diagnosed with breast cancer age 40 and under.
- Connects the YSC community to mental health experts and resources designed for their unique experience.
- Ensures no young adult faces breast cancer alone.
